Olótiriel - Keeper of the Dream

"Olótiriel is the alias of web designer/LotR fan Amy, who comes from a little valley far far away, and currently lives with her lover (the author of this stunted biography) on top of a mountain even further away. She has not long since celebrated her 21st birthday.

Amy is a Lord of the Rings fanatic who has experienced three Best of Both Worlds conventions and has an extensive collection of LotR paraphernalia. She is a lover of Elven lore and art. She is quite talented artistically, employing the skill in her web design, and musically, being a fairly skilled pianist. She finds classical music more appealing than any other genre, but her aim is to extend her repertoire of self-composed Elven-style music.

She is gentle in nature (the one exception being towards her sister), although often quite critical (this trait changes at random to be quite tolerant and sympathetic). She loves bunnies and kittens. Her view is a realistic one of the world, but her dreams are far more romantic – often seemingly saddened by the difficulty to bring the two together.

Her talents are numerous and, once again, draw on her artistic ability: she makes chokers, paints faces, practices cartography, calligraphy, et hoc genus omne.

One day she plans to build her own Elven haven..."

Passions
The loves of my life include:
Elli- My inamorato, Adam, who I met early 2007. I honestly feel that I have found my soul mate, and cannot really envision a life without him.
- My cat Elessar, who is usually called Elli, Tommy or Monkey. He's a very naughty, fluffy creature, as can be expected of a cat...
- My two battered old ex-pianolas, which will hopefully one day be replaced by a Kawai or, dare I ever say, a Steinway & Sons.
- My Tolkien collection which comprises of well over 200 pieces, mostly books, but also movie memorabilia, costume pieces, and prints/posters. Also my Harry Potter collection (not as valuable, but even bigger!)
- My laptop: I am one of many who can quite easily spend their day at a computer, whether it be undertaking various small design pursuits or, as is more likely, gaming.
- My hair! It's very dark, thick, can be coarse and unruly, but is long enough for me to sit on, and I don't plan on getting it cut until I've found out how long I can grow it!

Playing a grand at Rydges Lakeside, CanberraOn Piano
I began playing the piano at a very young age (completely of my own desire), though took lessons only for about 7 years. I have no aims to become a concert pianist, but enjoy playing to an audience on occasion, or providing accompaniment. I love most the classical composers Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Vivaldi, Beethoven and Bach, but also  more modern composers like Yann Tiersen, Ludovico Einaudi, Enya, various soundtracks... I also occasionally compose. If anything is recorded in the future, it will appear on this website. I attend lessons at present with a lovely teacher who, in a short time, has already been such an inspiration.

On Web Design
I started creating websites in 2000, and since about 2003 in a professional capacity. It is really a sporadic hobby, and not one which I plan to take any further than occasional local design jobs.

On my style
Outside with some rosesI enjoy the 'Gothic' style, its architecture, melancholy and dark allure, romantic Victorian dress. Eventually I'll probably segue from this style into what I call the Moriquendi garb. If one were to imagine the luxurious and beautiful dress and robes of Elves, and to combine this with a darker elegance, one might have an entirely new, but acceptable, raiment: that which Dark Elves may have come to adopt, if they lived up to their namesake.
