Helen 


Helen started working with the Valley Care Counselling Service late in 2002 and came with experience, competence and an excellent training record.
She has a history in secondary school teaching, tutoring in adult literacy, business management within the Science Teachers Association of Australia and was a research assistant in adult literacy programs. Helen runs a small business preparing commentaries on the VCE English texts and sells these commentaries to English teachers and students. 

Before training to be a counsellor, Helen was a sessional lecturer at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.

She has gained the degrees of:
Bachelor of Arts University of Melbourne
Diploma of Education ``
Bachelor of Education La Trobe University
Bachelor of Arts Tabor College
(Christian Counselling)

Her counselling degree included the subjects:
Marriage and Family Counselling
Grief Management
Psychological Problems

Helen did most of her supervised training at the Karinya Counselling Centre.
She has experience in sexual abuse work and is willing to take on most areas of counselling within her trained scope.
Her senior lecturer at Tabor said:
"Helen brings a natural gentleness to her work with people, as well as a degree of insight and maturity that reflects the wealth of life experience she brings to counselling"
She has recently qualified as a counselling supervisor and can be engaged as such via the email on this site
Helen is married to Peter and has four adult children. Peter and Helen have devoted their lives to accepting the challenges God allows them to face. Together they have had a leadership role on nearly 40 Anglican Marriage Encounter weekends - weekends that encourage married couples in their communication with each other and their faith. 



Graeme 
Graeme comes with many years of life's experience in a broad range of professions and trades. He initially worked in the building and construction industry and then moved to a farming career.
As a result of a deep and painful time in his life he felt called of God to train as a pastor and subsequently a counsellor.
From 1985 to 1988 he trained in behavioral science with the Elkanah Counselling Center before moving on to the Degree of Bachelor of Ministries through the Australian College of Theology. This study was undertaken at the Lilydale Campus.
Graeme also trained for one year at the Whitley Campus of the Melbourne College of Divinity - Melbourne University.
'In 2005 he completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling at Tabor College in Ringwood and is now registered as a full Clinical Member of the CCAA (Christian Counsellor's Association of Australia) which makes him eligible for membership with P.A.C.F.A. (Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia).
At one time he trained with the Boronia Psychiatric Clinic and has undertaken a course of Suicide Intervention Training with Living Works Inc.
Graeme manages the service and is the booking officer.
He counsels mainly in the areas of relationship, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, men's anger, sexual abuse and domestic violence. He runs a monthly men’s night that deals with the commonalties and issues of manhood.



Tim

Tim started working with ValleyCare in December 2005, working with a range of clients, in particular those suffering marital problems. He also works in his own counselling practice which he has been operating since late 2004.

Tim's background is in Information Technology [B.Sc.(App. Maths), Grad Dip. D.P.], where he worked for many years in Government and private industry. An opportunity arose for him to assess his career directions after 27 years as an IT professional, and he decided to change career. He undertook part time study to gain his Diploma in Professional Counselling, through the Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors, and so began his new career.

A member of the Australian Counsellors Association and the Federation of Victorian Counsellors, Tim brings much experience to be of assistance to those questioning their direction in life and for those struggling to find the work-life balance they desire.

Tim is married with 2 adult children, both of whom are now married. He is also an active member in his role as an Elder at Liberty Family Church in Healesville.


Alan (Counsellor's Peer Supervisor)

For a number of years Alan has worked with Valley Care but since retiring is working more in an advisory capacity to our counsellors. Alan has had many years in counselling and social work and comes with much experience.
